Paint By Numbers uses acrylic paints and a brush on a numbered canvas, so the process feels closer to painting and the finished result looks more like a painted artwork. Diamond Painting uses small acrylic drills on an adhesive canvas, which creates a brighter and more mosaic-like finish.

Choose Paint By Numbers if you enjoy working with a brush and building the image colour by colour. Choose Diamond Painting if you prefer a neat, repetitive rhythm. Both work well for beginners.

A good first choice is often a 40x50 cm Paint By Numbers kit or a 30x40 cm Diamond Painting kit. The size already looks good when finished, but the project does not become too large straight away.

For your first kit, choose a clear subject without too many tiny details. In Paint By Numbers, easy or medium designs are a safe starting point. In Diamond Painting, round drills are usually easier than square drills. If you order a custom kit from your photo and the image includes faces or many small details, a bigger size usually preserves the result better.

The time depends mainly on the size, the amount of detail in the image, and whether you work on it in short relaxed sessions or longer stretches. As a rough guide, a 40x50 cm Paint By Numbers kit takes around 25–45 hours, while a Diamond Painting kit of the same size with square drills takes around 25–70 hours.

A small project can be finished in a few evenings, while a larger one may stay with you for weeks. Most people work on their kit little by little, so it does not need to feel like one big task.

Yes. You can order a Paint By Numbers or Diamond Painting kit from your own photo. The best image is sharp and well lit, with the main subject clearly separated from the background.

Landscape photos, pets, wedding photos, portraits and meaningful group photos usually work especially well when the lighting is good and the image quality is clear. Blurry, dark, shadowy or distant photos work less well if the main subject ends up too small. Every custom image is checked before production, and if the photo will not make a good Paint By Numbers or Diamond Painting kit, we contact you before production.

Kits usually include around 10–20% extra paints and drills. If your kit still came with too few paints or drills, we will send more free of charge when you tell us the colour code and your order number with the contact form.
