Missing a paint from your paint by numbers kit, or did one of the pots dry out? Our Paint Mix Calculator helps you calculate the closest emergency mix from the paint codes you still have left. A mixed paint will never be exactly the same as the original, but it can help finish small or less visible areas. The paint-code search works with paints and color codes from paintbynumbers.eu kits. You can also choose a custom color and find an approximate mix for small touch-ups or personal projects if you are mixing with our paints. If a new kit arrived with a missing or unusable paint pot, contact customer support instead of using this as a replacement for a support claim.
Good to know before mixing
The mixed shade is an estimate. Paint by numbers paints are mixed by hand in production, so even the same color code can vary slightly between batches. Measuring method, water amount and drying can also affect the result at home. With Custom color, the starting shade can also be affected by your screen, photo lighting and camera settings.
Mix a small amount and paint a test dot on paper or on an area that will not be visible in the finished piece.
Acrylic paint can look different when wet. Compare the shade only after the test spot has dried.
The easiest accurate method is a small digital scale that measures at least to 0.1 grams.
Do not mix directly in the original paint pot. Use a palette, lid or small cup.

Where do I find the codes?
The painting SKU is usually found in the lower-left corner of the canvas or the upper-left corner of the color list.
Paint codes are listed on the right side of the color list. Enter the letter-and-number code, such as A0000, or just 0000.
If the product is not found, it may be discontinued or old enough that its color list is not available in this tool. In that case, a painting-specific mix is not available. You can still use the full color chart or enter your remaining paints manually.
Will the mix be exactly the same color?
Not necessarily. The calculator finds the closest estimated mix, but paint batches, hand measuring and drying can create a visible difference. This is intended as emergency help, not as a perfect replacement paint.
Where do I find the painting SKU?
The SKU is usually in the lower-left corner of the canvas or the upper-left corner of the color list. You can also search by product name if the SKU is not visible right away.
Why can I not find my product?
The product may be discontinued or old enough that its color list is not available in this tool. In that case, a painting-specific mix is unfortunately not available.
What does shade match mean?
99%+ is very close to the calculated shade. 95-98% is a good emergency mix and usually works well for saving a missing area. 90-94% is still usable, especially for smaller areas. 85-89% is approximate. Under 85% is usually not recommended.
Does this work with other brands?
Other brands' color codes do not work directly, and the calculator does not know their paint ranges. You can still use Custom color for an approximate touch-up if you are mixing from leftover paintbynumbers.eu paints.
What if my new kit arrived with a missing or dried paint?
Please contact customer support with your order number and a photo of the colour list or missing paint. The calculator is for emergency mixes, not a replacement for a support claim.
Can I use this for dried paint?
Yes, if the paint can no longer be revived. If the paint has only thickened, try a very small amount of water or acrylic medium first. Check the shade before thinning and compare the test spot only after it has dried.
How do I measure the recipe in grams?
Use the percentages as ratios. If the precise formula shows 70% colour A and 30% colour B, a small test batch can be 0.7 g of colour A and 0.3 g of colour B. A scale that measures to 0.1 g is the easiest way to do this.
Where does a mixed paint work best?
Emergency mixes work best on small areas, edges, shadows and textured parts. Avoid using an uncertain mix on large flat areas, faces or directly next to the original colour.
What does “Use full color chart” mean?
It lets the calculator search across the full known paintbynumbers.eu colour chart. Use it only if you have many leftover paints, and always check that you actually have the colours listed in the recipe.
