A black-and-white cat crouches in tall meadow grass and turns its head aside. Yellow and pink wildflowers and grey dandelion seed heads surround it, with the red wall of a building behind. The scene is Bruno Liljefors's painting Cat on a Flowery Meadow.

Bruno Liljefors painted the work, Katt på blomsteräng in Swedish, in 1887, and it belongs to the Nationalmuseum. The cat sits at the edge of the composition, leaving the meadow more room than the animal. Notice how the black-and-white coat stands out among the blossoms and how downy seed heads recur through the grass.
