Biarritz's beach takes the August swell in long white lines of foam. Red-roofed buildings climb the headland, and a footbridge links two rocky islets, one topped by a white tower. A row of red-and-white striped beach tents lines the sand, surfers ride the waves, and a woman in a red dress walks the shoreline, all drawn in pixel-art style.

Blue sky and cloud streaks fill in as broad areas, as do the yellow sand and tent stripes. The finest work is in the beach walkers and the breaking waves, where swimsuit, skin and foam colours shift often and many single drills sit apart.
