A tiny white heart sits inside each red heart, framed by gold scrolls on either side of an eight-pointed golden star. Below them, two leaping deer face a red vase holding tulips, roses and blue flowers. Spruces, berry sprigs and a red-and-gold scrolled border complete the Alpine folk-painted Christmas panel.
Rose petals in layered reds and pinks, plus the deer's antlers and pale coats, take the most careful placement. The dark green background fills every gap between motifs and goes down in large continuous areas, as do the golden border scrolls. Single scattered drills cluster mostly around the left deer, among branches and blossoms.
