In the fells around Abisko, September has turned the slopes red, orange and yellow, with patches of deep purple between grey-blue boulders. A snow-capped mountain rises behind, and a turquoise lake opens below the hillside. At the centre, a mountain hare leaps through the scrub, its coat already turning white for winter.

The hare's patchy brown and white coat holds the most detailed painting, as small markings change colour at close intervals around the black-tipped ears and the eye. The red and orange shrubs and the pale blue sky fill broader areas.

How to get started

  1. Preparation: Check that the package contains all the supplies. Have a glass of water and paper towels nearby for cleaning brushes.
  2. Work order: Start from the top of the canvas and work downwards. This way, you avoid your hand touching wet paint as the work progresses.
  3. One color at a time: Paint all areas of the same number at once. Keep paint cups closed when not in use to prevent acrylic paint from drying.
  4. Brush maintenance: Wash and dry the brush thoroughly each time you change colors. If light paint doesn't cover the number, let it dry and add another layer.
