A red fox sits on a mossy drystone wall and meets the viewer's gaze with amber eyes. Its bushy, white-tipped tail curls over the stones. Behind it, a green valley opens up with stone barns and grazing sheep, while a cloudy sky breaks open above the hills.

Olive brown ferns, mustard-yellow moss and purple heather fill the foreground in small, varied patches. The finest work lies in the fox's fur and face, where orange, white and blackish brown alternate closely. The grey-blue sky and the distant slopes are painted in broader areas.

How to get started

  1. Preparation: Check that the package contains all the supplies. Have a glass of water and paper towels nearby for cleaning brushes.
  2. Work order: Start from the top of the canvas and work downwards. This way, you avoid your hand touching wet paint as the work progresses.
  3. One color at a time: Paint all areas of the same number at once. Keep paint cups closed when not in use to prevent acrylic paint from drying.
  4. Brush maintenance: Wash and dry the brush thoroughly each time you change colors. If light paint doesn't cover the number, let it dry and add another layer.
