A boy in a striped jumper sits in a tall wing chair, absorbed in a large open book. Carl Larsson's Esbjörn at the Study Corner surrounds him with a green-draped table holding a gramophone, a guitar hanging by the window, a painted blue door and a red-legged table with a flowering pot plant.

Daylight from the tall windows spreads across the pale floor. The golden-yellow chair, the blue door and the red table stand out as clear blocks of colour around the reading boy. Larsson finished the work in 1912, and it now belongs to the Nationalmuseum collection.

How to get started

  1. Preparation: Check that the package contains all the supplies. Have a glass of water and paper towels nearby for cleaning brushes.
  2. Work order: Start from the top of the canvas and work downwards. This way, you avoid your hand touching wet paint as the work progresses.
  3. One color at a time: Paint all areas of the same number at once. Keep paint cups closed when not in use to prevent acrylic paint from drying.
  4. Brush maintenance: Wash and dry the brush thoroughly each time you change colors. If light paint doesn't cover the number, let it dry and add another layer.
