Sunflowers in paint by numbers
The sunflower is an old favourite of painters, and with good reason: few flowers hold so much light. Yellow, gold and orange petals around a deep brown seed head create a contrast you can see from across the room.
As you paint, the petals build up from warm shades placed side by side, and it is satisfying to follow their curved shapes with the brush. The finished painting brightens a kitchen or a country-style living room, and it makes a cheerful gift for a birthday, a housewarming or anyone who needs some sunshine in the darker months.
